It's Just Common Sense
No matter how good your website is, or how detailed you make the FAQ, there will always be something that needs to be handled by a real person. So now that my partner and I have been running our mail order vintage motorcycle parts primarily on the internet, it’s time to find out about 800 phone numbers. Sometimes, even if a customer sends you an email, there are some questions that are just easier to answer and can be handled more quickly over the phone. In this day and age, nobody who is calling from out of state is going to want to call you unless it’s toll free. Also, it makes any business, no matter how small look a lot more legitimate to most shoppers if you have a toll-free number, because that’s what everyone has grown used to. I doubt if any business will every be 100% email communication only, even while everything gets more and more advanced every day. Besides, there’s really something to be said for getting customer service from a live person.
